Credits

The design of Scraping Pennies hasn’t cost me a dime, or a penny for that matter. Only the hours I invested in it, and the many hours others have invested in freely available resources. And credit where credit is due, this is what I used for the theme of Scraping Pennies.

Thanks to all, you are awesome!

Blog Theme

This theme is based on the foundations of the free theme Daily32, as provided by Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips. The theme was designed and coded by Design Saurus, and I must say that they did an excellent job at that!

I ended up modifying a lot, but the foundation was very strong and a lot of design elements are still very visible in the current design.

Tools

These are the free tools I use to manage and modify Scraping Pennies and its theme:

  • WordPress. This is the blogging platform that this blog is built on. WordPress is freely available and a very versatile and easy to use platform
  • Crimson Editor. This is a small but useful program to edit code, like the php and css files needed for a WordPress theme.
  • Firefox Extension: Web Developer Toolbar. This is THE tool I use when editing the design of a blog theme. Edit the CSS file and see the results live. Satisfied? Copy the code, paste it in the stylesheet (using Crimson Editor or simply the design interface in WordPress Admin).
  • The GIMP. This is a very versatile image editing application. It’s kind of difficult to start using, especially if you’re not accustomed to the concept of layered images. But if you have the patience to learn, you can do many a great thing with this program.
